Contents
Per 100 g Plantago ovata seed 65 g, ispaghula husk 2.2 g
Indications/Uses
Relief of occasional constipation & diarrhoea. Stool regulation in bedridden patients, post-op patients, in case of haemorrhoids, & in pregnancy.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult 2 tsp after evening meal (at least 1 hr before retiring), & 1 tsp before breakfast if necessary. Diarrhoea Initially 2 tsp tds for 1-3 days, & 1 tsp tds thereafter if necessary. School childn ½ of adult dose.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach: Swallow unchewed w/ plenty of fluid.
Contraindications
Suspected or existing ileus, or GIT stenosis especially in the oesophageal area.
Special Precautions
Establish cause & check electrolytes (particularly K) in case of severe & persistent diarrhoea which does not respond to Agiocur. Contains approx 0.9 g sucrose per tsp.
Adverse Reactions
Flatulence & bloating sensation.
Drug Interactions
Danger of intestinal obstruction w/ bulking agents & antidiarrhoeics eg, diphenoxylate, difenoxin, loperamide HCl & opiates.
