Indications/Uses
Adults & paed patients ≥4 mth for invasive candidiasis; oesophageal candidiasis in patients for whom IV therapy is appropriate. Prophylaxis of Candida infection in patients undergoing allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplantation or who are expected to have neutropenia (ANC <500 cells/μL) for ≥10 days.
Dosage/Direction for Use
IV infusion Doses are taken once daily. Adult, adolescent ≥16 yr & elderly weighing >40 kg Invasive candidiasis 100 mg/day. May increase dose to 200 mg/day if response is inadequate. Oesophageal candidiasis 150 mg/day. Prophylaxis of Candida infection 50 mg/day. ≤40 kg Invasive candidiasis 2 mg/kg/day. May increase dose to 4 mg/kg/day if response is inadequate. Oesophageal candidiasis 3 mg/kg/day. Prophylaxis of Candida infection 1 mg/kg/day. Paed ≥4 mth weighing >30 kg Invasive candidiasis 2 mg/kg. Max daily dose: 100 mg. Oesophageal candidiasis 2.5 mg/kg. Max daily dose: 150 mg. Prophylaxis of Candida infection 1 mg/kg. Max daily dose: 50 mg. ≤30 kg Invasive candidiasis 2 mg/kg. Max daily dose: 100 mg. Oesophageal candidiasis 3 mg/kg. Prophylaxis of Candida infection 1 mg/kg. Max daily dose: 50 mg.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to micafungin Na or other echinocandins.
