Norepinephrine tartrate
Indications/Uses
BP control in certain acute hypotensive states (eg, MI, septicemia, blood transfusion & drug reactions). As an adjunct in the treatment of cardiac arrest & profound hypotension.
Dosage/Direction for Use
IV BP restoration in acute hypotensive states Ave dose: 8-12 mcg/min, adjust flow rate to establish & maintain low normal BP (usually 80-100 mmHg). Ave maintenance dose: 2-4 mcg/min. Duration of therapy: Continue infusion until adequate BP & tissue are maintained w/o therapy. Adjunctive treatment in cardiac arrest Ave dose: 8-12 mcg/min, adjust flow rate to establish & maintain low normal BP (usually 80-100 mmHg).
Contraindications
Patients who are hypotensive from blood vol deficits; w/ mesenteric or peripheral vascular thrombosis; w/ profound hypoxia or hypercarbia. Concomitant use w/ cyclopropane & halothane anesth.
