Hydroxychloroquine sulfate
Indications/Uses
RA, juvenile chronic arthritis, discoid & SLE, dermatological conditions cause or aggravated by sunlight.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult including elderly Max: 6.5 mg/kg daily, either 200 mg or 400 mg daily. Patient able to receive 400 mg daily Initially 400 mg daily in divided doses. May be reduced to 200 mg when no further improvement is evident. Increase dose to 400 mg daily if response lessens. Ped Max: 6.5 mg/kg daily.
Administration
Should be taken with food: Take w/ meal or glass of milk.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to hydroxychloroquine sulfate or 4-aminoquinoline compd. Pre-existing, eye maculopathy. Childn <6 yr (200 mg tab not adapted for <35 kg) or for ideal body wt <31 kg.
