Paroxetine HCl

Indications/Uses

Major depressive disorder (MDD), premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) & social anxiety disorder/social phobia in adults.

Dosage/Direction for Use

Adult Usually taken as single daily dose in the morning. MDD Initially 25 mg daily, may be increased in 12.5 mg daily increments up to a max of 62.5 mg daily. Dose changes can be made w/ at least 1-wk interval. PMDD Initially 12.5 mg daily, may be increased to 25 mg daily. Dose changes can be made w/ at least 1-wk interval. Social anxiety disorder/social phobia Initially 12.5 mg daily, may be increased in 12.5 mg daily increments up to a max of 37.5 mg daily. Dose changes can be made w/ at least 1-wk interval. Elderly Initially 12.5 mg daily, may be increased up to 50 mg daily.

Administration

May be taken with or without food: Swallow whole, do not chew/crush.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity. Combination w/ MAOIs [including linezolid & methylthioninium Cl (methylene blue)] or w/in 2 wk of terminating treatment w/ MAOIs; QT-prolonging medications & those metabolized by CYP450 2D6 (eg, thioridazine or pimozide).
