Ubretid

Functional insufficiency of the vesical sphincteral apparatus. Hypotonia of the urinary bladder. Chronic hypotonic constipation & megacolon. Peripheral paralyses of the striated muscles, myasthenia gravis pseudoparalytica.

Individualized dosage. Functional insufficiency of the vesicosphincteral system Initially 1 tab daily. Maintenance: 1-2 tab every other or 3rd day. Chronic hypotonic constipation & megacolon Initially ½ tab daily, may be increased by ½ tab (max: 2 tab daily) every 3rd day. Peripheral paralysis, particularly after poliomyelitis & diphtheria, posttraumatic paralysis; bulbar paralysis, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis 3 tab daily. Myasthenia gravis pseudoparalytica 1st wk: 1 tab daily. 2nd wk: Increase daily dose to 1½ tab. 3rd wk: Increase dose to 2 tab daily.

Should be taken on an empty stomach: Take ½ hr before breakfast.

Hypersensitivity. Bromine allergy; severe vagotonia accompanied by low BP, slow heart rate, hyperacidity, hyperperistalsis of intestine & stomach; increased salivation, peripheral circulatory disturbances, mechanical obstruction to urinary outflow, obstructive ileus, stenosis or spasms in the intestinal tract, biliary ducts & urinary passages; gastric ulcers, enteritis; very low BP, increased muscular tone, tetany, epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, post-op shock & circulatory crises; non-treated cardiac insufficiency, cardiac infarction, CHF, recent MI, cardiac arrhythmias (bradycardia & AV block), bronchial asthma, iritis, myotonia & thyrotoxicosis.
