Each 1 mL ampoule contains: Hyoscine N-butylbromide 20 mg.
GITAS Injection is indicated for acute spasms such as renal or biliary colic. In radiology, it is used for differential diagnosis of obstruction and to reduce spasm and pain on pyelography, and for other diagnostic procedures where spasm is a problem, such as gastroduodenal endoscopy.
Injection: 1 ampoule (I.M. or I.V.) repeated after 1/2 hour if necessary.
If used for endoscopy, this dose may be repeated more frequently.
Porphyria.
Do not give to patients with glaucoma, prostatic hypertrophy with a tendency to urinary retention, mechanical stenosis in the gastrointestinal tract, tachycardia, megacolon.
Patients who are hypersensitive to the previously mentioned components.
Use with caution in elderly patients, patients with heart disorders, ulcerative colitis, paralytic ileus and pyloric stenosis.
Avoid consuming alcoholic beverages.
Use in Pregnancy & Lactation: See USE IN PREGNANCY & LACTATION section for further information.
Use in pregnant women is only recommended if absolutely needed, especially in the first trimester of pregnancy, considering the risk to the fetus.
Safety in breastfeeding women has not been proven.
Dryness of the mouth and skin, constipation, palpitations, "flushing", cardiac arrhythmias, bradycardia and tachycardia. It has been reported to cause paradoxical reactions (sleep disturbances) and affect vision, therefore caution should be exercised when driving motor vehicles or operating machinery.
