INFUSAN KCl 7.46 is a clear, colorless, odorless, and sterile solution.
Each mL contains: Potassium Chloride 74.6 mg.
Osmolarity 2 mOsm/mL.
Pharmacology: Potassium chloride can correct the level of potassium and chloride in the blood.
Potassium is the one of body's essential ion and the primary cation of intracellular fluids, affecting in cell function and metabolism: Essential for metabolism of carbohydrates, glycogen storage and for protein synthesis.
Affects transmembrane potential in muscles including cardiac muscles.
INFUSAN KCl 7.46 is indicated to correct hypokalemia.
Injectable solution should be diluted to about 0.3% and administered parenterally as needed. The usual parenteral dose is equivalent to 1 to 3 g of potassium chloride.
Potassium Chloride is contraindicated in: Renal impairment with oliguria, anuria or azotemia.
Untreated Addison's disease.
Acute dehydration.
Heat cramps.
Hyperkalemia.
Adynamia episodica hereditaria.
Injection solution of KCl 7.46% should not be used without dilution first.
Injection should be administered with caution, since ideal dose per day is not known certainly.
Excessive doses can cause potassium intoxicity.
High levels of potassium plasma can result in death because of arrhythmia heart depression or weak heart.
Injection solution should not be used when: Not clear, containers and caps are damaged.
Mutual use with spironolactone and triamterene can increase hyperkalemia.
Do not use if the solution is cloudy, changes colour, containing foreign particles, also if the container is damaged and leaking.
B05XA01 - potassium chloride ; Belongs to the class of electrolyte solutions used in I.V. solutions.
