Pseudoephedrine hydrochloride, chlorpheniramine maleate.
Description
Clear orange solution with orange aroma.
Each 5 mL contains: Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride 15 mg, Chlorpheniramine Maleate 1 mg.
Excipients/Inactive Ingredients: Sodium Benzoate, Povidone K-90 F, Maltitol Solution, Citric Acid Monohydrate, Sodium Citrate Dihydrate, Sucrose, Sucralose, Sunset Yellow, Orange Essence, Purified Water.
Action
Pharmacology: Pseudoephedrine is a sympathomimetic agent with direct effects on adrenergic receptors which give decongestant effect.
Chlorpheniramine is an alkylamine (propylamine)-derivative antihistamine, acts by antagonizing competitively the effects of histamine on H1 receptors which then gives antihistamine effect.
Indications/Uses
Relieves sneezing, nasal congestion due to the common cold.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adults and children older than 12 years of age: 10 mL, three times daily.
Children 6-12 years of age: 5 mL, three times daily.
Children 2-5 years of age: 2.5 mL, three times daily.
Children younger than 2 years of age: As directed by physician.
Contraindications
See Warnings.
Patients who are hypersensitive to the component of this drug.
In patients of severe high blood pressure or uncontrolled high blood pressure.
In patients with severe acute kidney disease, severe chronic kidney disease or patients with kidney failure.
Warnings
Should not be used in patients who are sensitive to other sympathomimetic drugs (e.g. ephedrine, phenylpropanolamine HCl, phenylephrine), patients with severe hypertension, and who are receiving monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) antidepressant therapy.
Do not exceed the recommended dose.
Should be used with caution in patients with hypertension or who have the potentiality to develop hypertension or stroke, such as patients with overweight or elderly patients.
If within 3 days common cold symptoms do not subside, contact a doctor or health care facilities immediately.
Stop using the drug if the patient experiences insomnia, palpitation, and dizziness.
May cause drowsiness.
Special Precautions

Should be used with caution in patients with liver and kidney dysfunction, glaucoma. prostate hypertrophy, hyperthyroidism, urinary retention, heart disorders, and diabetes mellitus.
When using this product do not drive a motor vehicle or operate machinery.
Should be cautious if used concomitantly with other central nervous system (CNS) depressant drug.
Use of drugs containing pseudoephedrine has a potential risk of Posterior Reversible Encephalopathy (PRES) and Reversible Cerebral Vasoconstriction Syndrome (RCVS). PRES and RCVS are conditions in which the blood supply to the brain is reduced, which can cause serious and potentially fatal complications.
Stop using drugs containing pseudoephedrine if symptoms of PRES and RCVS occur and seek medical attention immediately (see Adverse Reactions).
It is not recommended for children younger than 2 years of age, pregnant and nursing women, unless as directed by a physician.
Adverse Reactions
Insomnia, headache, excitation, tremor, tachycardia, arrhythmia, palpitation, difficult urination, and gastrointestinal disturbance.
Chlorpheniramine maleate may cause drowsiness and dry mouth.
Posterior Reversible Encephalopathy Syndrome (PRES) and Reversible Cerebral Vasoconstriction Syndrome (RCVS) with symptoms such as sudden severe headache, nausea, vomiting, confusion, seizures and/or visual disturbances.
Drug Interactions

Concomitant use with monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) antidepressant may cause hypertensive crisis.
The effect of treatment which acts centrally (sympathomimetics, antidepressants) may be increased by Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride or Chlorpheniramine.
Caution For Usage
Shake well before use.
Storage
Store at temperatures below 30°C.
Use within 7 days after opening.
