Contents
Fusidic acid.
Indications/Uses
Skin infection due to Staphylococcus or other fusidic acid-susceptible bacteria eg, impetigo contagiosa, superficial folliculitis, furunculosis, sycosis barbae, hidradenitis axillaris, abscess, paronychia, erythrasma.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult and child: Open lesion: Apply 3-4 times daily.
Closed lesion: Apply more frequent. Duration of therapy: Approximately 7 days.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Infection due to nonsensitive organism against fusidic acid especially Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
Special Precautions
Avoid contact with eyes. May increase the risk of sensitization and bacterial resistance. If possible, avoid use during the last month of pregnancy. May cause kernicterus in babies during the first month of age.
Adverse Reactions
Skin rash, urticaria, irritation.
